The market is another word for greed: whatever brings in the best return is fine, no matter what the consequences for people, communities, planet. Now that we've spent 20 years convincing people that the market is the only option why are we surprised that the new generation is less social, more dangerous? (If indeed they are so.)

A ray of hope: the (self-serving) argument about the primacy of the market is a much harder sell now that we're all victims of banksters worldwide.
